St. Mary’s University graduated a total of 2,134 students with undergraduate and graduate degrees on July 21, 2018. Out of the graduates, 1,122 and 468 were from conventional and distance modes of learning program respectively, and 544 were from graduate programs. Committing itself to creating access to the disadvantaged and by virtue of having a conducive learning environment, the University has been able to see its female graduates account for 64%, 26% and 35% in its regular undergraduate, distance undergraduate, and graduate programs, respectively. The ceremony started with the congratulatory remarks made by Associate Professor Wondwosen Tamrat, Founder and President of the University, who urged the graduates to put the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their stay at the University into practice and contribute their share to Ethiopia’s development.
The graduation ceremony took place at the Addis Ababa Exhibition Center in the presence of the Guest of Honor, Sr. Zebider Zewdie, Founder and Executive Manager of Mary Joy Ethiopia, a national NGO, who made inspirational speech revealing her own life experiences that enabled her attain success in her career. The ceremony came to a close with the award of Trophy and Medals the best achievers.
