Institute of Agriculture and Development Studies (IADS)

The Institute of Agriculture and Development Studies (IADS), School of Graduate Studies, was established in 2011 as one of the Academic Programs of the School of Graduate Studies of St. Mary’s University by offering accredited postgraduate programs in Agricultural Economics and Rural Development. In 2014 and 2018, the Institute started to offer additional accredited master’s programs in Development Economics, Social Work and Development Management. The programs of the Institute of Agriculture and Development Studies are offered through rigorous combinations of theoretical, empirical and policy-oriented regular two-year semester-based courses and thesis writing.

The institute admits students twice a year for all its programs through rigorous selection methods that involve fulfilling all the requirements set by the University’s School of Graduate Studies and entrance exam.

The Institute owns a Journal of Agriculture and Development (JAD) that publishes peer-reviewed research articles and short communications on agriculture and development studies biannually. The Journal is dispatched to universities and institutes of Agricultural research in the country.
