Faculty of Informatics

The Faculty of Informatics, Undergraduate Program, was first established as Department of Computer Science in 2000 enrolling a total of 147 students in certificate and 12+2 in diploma programs in the regular and extension divisions. The Department started implementing the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) curriculum in both Level III and Level IV. In the Academic Year 2004/5, it launched the Undergraduate Degree Program in Computer Science. In the Year 2005/06, the Department was raised to the level of faculty and was named “Faculty of Informatics” by launching another new undergraduate degree program in Information Technology.  Currently, the Faculty is offering undergraduate degree in Computing Science.

Students who would like to join the undergraduate degree program at the Faculty are required to fulfill the admission requirements set by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE).

The undergraduate degree in Computing Science is a four-year program for regular students and a five-year program for extension students.

The Faculty integrates conceptual knowledge and technical skills through the encouragement of its academic staff and students to regularly use the computer laboratories. Students are offered regular project works and Internship Program to help them translate the theory they acquire in classrooms into practice. The Annual ICT Exhibition, a platform for students to showcase their project works, is one such opportunity.
