Experience Sharing Session Held

The Office of the Vice President for Research and International Relations (OVPRIR), SMU, held an experience sharing session with staff from Ethiopian War College of the Ethiopian Ministry of Defense on 28 June 2021 at SMU Main Campus Syndicate Room. The team from the college was led by Colonel Awgichew Fekede, Dean/Deputy Commander of Strategic Studies of the College. The aim of the session was to share SMU’s experience in relation to planning, monitoring and evaluation, research, and publications. The opening remarks were made by Misganaw Solomon(PhD), Vice President for Research and International Relations, who welcomed the participants and highlighted the aim of the session.

Four presentations were made during the session. The first presentation was made by Misganaw Solomon (PhD), Vice President for Research and International Relations, and dwelt on overview of SMU in general and that of the OVPRIR in particular. The second presentation was made by Ato Shegaw G/Medhin, Director, Center of Educational Improvement and Quality Assurance (CEIQA), SMU, who presented about CEIQA and its major tasks; the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting at SMU. The third presentation was about RaKMO and its activities mainly research events, research publications and capacity building endeavors and was made by W/rt Senait Getahun, Director, RaKMO.  The final presentation was on SMU publication process with particular focus on SMU in Stride and Assessment in Focus Newsletters and was delivered by W/ro Asnakech G/Selassie, Director, IRC Office.

The presentations were followed by a discussion session where questions were raised by the visiting team and detailed responses were given by OVPRIR and CEIQA staff.

Finally, Colonel Awgichew thanked and appreciated SMU for sharing its ample experiences in the areas of research, publications, planning, M&E and reporting. He also indicated that his College is very much interested to closely work with and learn more from SMU.
